The pricing options available for resume writing and posting services are as varied as the services themselves. There are even services available for free. The free resume services, however, are usually limited in their offerings. The free resume services want you to upgrade to their paid resume writing and posting services so they make the free resume services less desirable. Unless you have a lot of time and don’t care about the restrictions I would stay away from the free services. There are plenty of resume service providers available who offer their services at a very reasonable rate. The main difference in the resume writing services is the amount of personal attention you get. While most will use an automated “interview” tool online to gather your information, there are others that offer a personal interview in addition to the questionnaire. And on the other end of the spectrum are the do-it-yourself services. Some of these are online and others are software packages. Although these resume services are less expensive, they require a lot more participation on your part.

As far as the resume posting services are concerned, you are basically paying them to do the work you could do in many cases for free, but you would spend many hours chasing down all the places they reach for a fee. And if you do it yourself you then have to go through the process of filling in a separate application on each of the sites. So even if you can find all of the sites they submit your resume on you will be spending a lot of time and effort to get your resume posted. Some of the sites they submit to you may not even think to go to but they may prove to be the right fit for your resume.
